First Task

INTERMEDIATE INTENSIVE ENGLISH I
FIRST TASK

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE: By the end of this activity students will be able to talk about important events in the simple or continuous past as well as giving advice when talking about illnesses

1.   Divide activity into three sections.

Start organizing 3 different sections in a collage:
First: Events in the past (Simple Past), Second: Illnesses (Giving Advice) and Third: Activities in the past at specific time (Past Progressive) your will classify the sections by selecting photos, images, drawings or any kind of pictures that relate to those events, the students will include 3 events for each section. For example: The disappearance of “el colon”, your last vacation, what you do when you get a sore a throat, what were you doing when…etc.

2. Describe each event by writing, at least, 10 sentences that narrate each of those events (use chronological order).
Use correct tenses. Check out grammar, structure, spelling and punctuation.

3. Prepare a chart (from 1 -2 pieces of poster size bond paper) using all the photographs or materials that relate to your events. The presentation must include mainly the pictures or images. Each poster can include a heading and no more than one sentence to describe it. The rest of the information has to be given orally. Be creative!!! (The students will be presenting one event per area; the teacher will decide which of them at random).

4. Present a written report about the events to be presented as your first task on the date specified by your professor.

5.      Present your task in class. You will talk about your five events in your chart. (7 – 10 minutes)
